About The Community

Background

The Support Staff Community (formerly known as the NSW Support Staff Committee) was created in 2018 to provide a community for legal support staff to network and socialise with others outside their firm, provide them with access to mentors, educational seminars and other educational resources to improve their skills and knowledge and to provide them with a platform to share their knowledge and experience with others.

Our events and resources are available to all Community Members. Any legal support staff professional is eligible to become a Community Member. This includes all people in non-legal roles such as receptionists, admin assistants, personal assistants, secretaries and paralegals - basically any person working in a law firm who is not a practicing lawyer.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I become a Community Member?

Follow any of our “Join The Community” links on this website to become a Community Member, or email our Committee on admin@thesupportstaffcommunity.com.

How much does it cost?

It’s completely free to become a member of The Support Staff Community! Our events and other Committee running costs are funded by corporate sponsorship and not by membership fees, which means that the benefits of becoming a Community Member are available to all!

Can I come to your events?

Of course! Our events are open to all Community Members! Check out our events page

To ensure that legal support staff get the most out of the Community and our events and seminars, there will sometimes be restrictions on other legal staff including lawyers, recruitment professionals and HR professionals attending certain events. If you work within any of these areas, please feel free to contact us to confirm if you can attend a specific event, or to discuss being involved in one of our future events as a sponsor partner or venue host.

Can I join the committee that runs the Support Staff Community?

The group that runs the Community is limited to 15 people, who have been selected specifically to ensure that various areas of law, law firms and levels of experiences are represented within the Committee that organises the Community’s events and resources. Whenever there are positions available within the committee group, we will promote these to our existing Community Members, inviting them to join the Committee. You are welcome to express your interest in joining the committee as these positions arise.
